The subject Astrology has become a subject of ridicule, as it has been greatly represented and utilized with a commercial outlook. The subject has become ridiculous because absurd claims were made sometimes to fulfil a person’s advertisement or for vested interest. One reason is very clear that things have been made very much commercial and people are utilizing it rampantly to earn profit by making the people in distress psychologically down.
What is the purpose of astrological knowledge?
The knowledge is to understand the outline of things to come in life to an extent, so that you can decide your activities accordingly, and that you can get maximum benefit. The way you think and experience life – it applies to that every moment. If your alignment with geometry is correct, it works in a particular way. If your dimension is not aligned, it works differently. No one can deny this.
If you know how geometry works different times, and what effect it has on us, it will give you a special kind of freedom, so that you can work with more clarity. The same is happening with the spiritual process, it is also happening with yoga and astrology because those who are providing it to others are not able to set the example of loyalty, honesty and discipline.
Therefore, it is very important that every science that deals with the inner nature of man have a special kind of loyalty and honesty, be it yoga or any other spiritual process. It is important that it reaches out to the people in a pure manner, otherwise it moves in a wrong way. The same is happening with the spiritual process, it is also happening with yoga and astrology because those who are giving it to others are not able to set the example of loyalty, honesty and discipline.

Astrology is purely mathematical
If we see the subject from the scientific angle, we can observe that the focal point is measurement. We see that astrology used to deal with mathematical formulae. That is why astrology is structured with a method to measure the strength and functionality of each marker in any horoscope. Numbers allow the perfect measurement of the astrological energies depicted in any horoscope and then they transform the way the chart is analyzed and interpret.
Measurement is essential in the time of interpreting human behaviour. Mathematical measurements in astrology deliver a numerical description of human nature. Mathematics is the central point in solving a problem, and solving of a problem is incorporated into the life experience of a human being. The application of numbers guides you to solve the problem and self-development in the most effective way. Astrology gives accurate measurements of the planets, aspects, ascendants, signs and houses in a horoscope.
Astrology is considered to be one of the ‘Vedangas’ i.e. part of the Vedas. It has been prepared with scientific knowledge by which human being can accomplish virtue. The science of Vedic astrology is a compilation of 4,00,000 verses (see Narada Purana, II.50.2).
The Vedic astrology has three prime sections – Siddhanta, Jataka and Samhita.
Siddhanta:
Siddhanta is referred to mathematics and it utilizes mathematical calculations for planetary positions, knowledge about time, place, direction, lunar and solar eclipses, their rising and setting etc. It deals with planetary movement, conjunction, retrogression, exaltation also.
Jataka:
Jataka deals with the technique of interpretation of horoscopes of the natives. It describes signs, ascendants, planets, their strengths, circumstances of a family at the time of birth. It also defines arishta (mishaps), longevity (life-span) of the native, different dasha systems and their results, profession, ashtakavarga and various types of yogas.
The section of Jataka also defines the result of planetary positions in several houses, signs, nakshatras, aspects of the planets, navamsa charts, planetary combinations, circumstances at the time of death etc.
Samhita:
The Samhita is that particular branch of astrology which makes a compilation of various subjects to predict a mass effect. It includes rising and setting of planets, the appearance of different comets, various chakras, prediction about rainfalls, earthquakes, natural disasters and epidemics. It also deals with results of planetary movements and their effects on different nations, people, commodities etc.
Since ancient time, Samhita has a greater role in diagnosing different diseases. The solution can also be found by analyzing the horoscope of the native perfectly.
So, the basic is the statistics which is related to the digit and mathematical calculation. If we do not use mathematical calculation, we will never analyze any of the symptoms or problems. In spite of various debates by the rationalists since the ancient period to nullify the connection of astrology with the science, one should know that science must be there behind any sort calculation.
