Honourable Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi today honoured the profession of Teaching as “Jeevan Dharm” (A Way Of Life). “Teacher’s Day” will be celebrated throughout India tomorrow. The day before, he was addressing 350 teachers who were the winner of the National Award. He also suggested teachers prepare the new generation of India balancing with the changes happening around the world. He also said that duty of a teacher to teach new generation cannot be withdrawn even after retirement, it is a lifelong process. The 350 national awardee teachers will be felicitated by the President of India Mr Pranab Mukherjee tomorrow.
He told that teachers must always be ahead of time to lead the society to progress. The Prime Minister said that two of his desires fulfilled after becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat were meeting his childhood friends and honouring his teachers because he knew the importance of a teacher in a student’s life.
The National Awardee Teachers would not be affected by the environment of Delhi, Modi said in a casual mode, because in his past days he felt like an outsider in Delhi. Teachers who were present on the occasion also shared their views and suggestions on teaching.
The Prime Minister will meet students on Teachers Day tomorrow and the programme will be telecasted live.
